New stampede in the world of streaming: Netflix has decided to increase its prices in a few countries, including France… and it’s becoming too much.
It’s been a few weeks since the increase in Netflix subscription prices threatened to fall . In this streaming war, Disney+ , Amazon Prime Video , Paramount+ , Apple TV+ and Max are fighting for big market shares. And we end up not only being a little lost among the immensity of the content offered online, but above all by having a pain in the wallet, which bleeds a little earlier each month than the previous month.
Recently, Max announced his upcoming arrival in France , and it’s not for now. The horizon is not clear for certain content. Fortunately, Netflix is here to restore order: the 7th (yes, seventh) season of Elite is arriving, and on top of that you will soon have to pay more to watch the series. A few series allow the red N to stand out, but the new price increase risks holding back some (and that is quite normal). We take stock of the new prices for Netflix subscriptions.
NETFLIX AND (BIG) BILL
In its letter to shareholders of October 18, 2023, the streaming giant revealed the price of its subscriptions. If the amount for the month of November 2023 should not change for those who were billed before October 18, 2023, the next payment risks surprising the rest of the subscribers:
- The price of the Standard subscription with advertisements does not change. Launched at the end of 2022, this subscription with ad breaks of 4 to 5 minutes per hour remains at €5.99 , and therefore remains the cheapest subscription offered by the platform.
- Then, the Netflix Essential subscription , for which the user only has one screen and a maximum resolution of 720p, goes from €8.99 to €10.99 per month. A big increase for the least advantageous subscription on the platform: no high resolution and no sharing possible for almost 11 euros… that’s a lot.
- For those who have a Netflix Standard subscription , with two screens simultaneously and a resolution of 1080p, good news: the price remains the same (€13.49 per month).
- On the other hand, you will have to increase your wallet for Premium subscribers (four screens simultaneously with 4K/HDR resolution) : the price goes from €17.99 to €19.99.
You will therefore have to be careful that your loved ones reimburse you for your subscription each month, because this risks stinging very badly. The red N clearly no longer has any limits, particularly since the ban on account sharing between several households, and new customers are already forced to subscribe to these new prices effective immediately.
